The Design and Evaluation of Public Policies for Rural Development

Welcome to the Penn State/ERS research project on rural development policy. The project brings together researchers from the European Union and the United States to examine rural development issues. Our aim is to identify effective public policies for stimulating the development of viable rural communities on both sides of the Atlantic

The co-leaders of the project are Professor David Blandford of Penn State University and Professor Berkeley Hill of London University.

Core financial support for this project is provided by the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Additional financial support is provided by the German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Farm Foundation.
